2026-2027 Senior Royalty

Our current Sr Royalty are Miss Litchfield Emma Wuotila, Princess Bianca Forsberg and Princess Ellivia Woods.

Watercade Royalty is a unique sisterhood, giving you the opportunity to positively impact the community while improving your resume, networking ability, and earning a scholarship! The Sr. Watercade Royalty Program is open to girls who are currently in 11th grade or older AND will be 17-22 years old by July 1st of the year in which they apply and live in Litchfield OR attend/graduated from Litchfield High School. Applications for the chance to undergo this life-changing experience are open every year from February 1st-April 1st.

Eligibility

The Litchfield Senior Royalty program is for girls who:
   • Currently in 11th grade or older AND will be 17-22 years old by July 1st
   • Live in Litchfield OR attend/graduated from Litchfield High School

Applications for 2027/28 Royalty will be open March 1st, 2026 and due April 1st, 2027 – Orientation on April 5th, 2027.

To be considered, you must complete the following:
– Online Application – Due April 1st. *Portions of your responses will be shared with the public and the judges.
– Candidate Contract – Signed at Candidate Orientation on April 5th.
– Sponsor Contract and Fee – Signed contract and fee must be turned in at Candidate Orientation on April 5th.

Each candidate is responsible to obtain a sponsorship from any local business.
– The Senior Candidate Sponsor fee is $600.
– This money will help cover the cost of advertising, your candidate sash, t-shirts, and other costs related to the royalty coronation.
– In return, your sponsor will be mentioned each time you are at a Watercade function, and your sponsor’s name will be included on your sash and the Watercade poster.
– If crowned, your sponsor will pay an additional $600.

Candidate events will typically take place 1-2 days each week in June and the week of Watercade (9-12).

– The week of Watercade is very busy. Please request the whole week (July 6-12) off of work now.
– A complete list of activities will be provided as soon as the Royalty Committee has it available.
– Activities may include: fundraisers, volunteering in the community, touring local businesses, coronation rehearsals, attending a neighboring community’s parade and/or coronation, and radio interviews.

Candidate Attire:
– You will receive a blue candidate t-shirt, bottoms, and a candidate sash. These will be required for most candidate events. 

Additional attire you will need:
1. A business-style outfit/dress for your formal interview with the judges
2. A knee-length or longer gown for the Watercade Parade
3. A full-length gown for the Coronation
      a.  Coronation gown may not be white or any color that may appear white.
4. Coronation opening number outfit as determined by the choreographer
      a. The cost of this outfit is often covered through a royalty fundraiser.
All dresses must have at least one shoulder strap. Clear straps are acceptable. If you are in need of a gown, please let us know. We have a Royalty Closet with dresses in a variety of sizes available.

– Each candidate is responsible for arranging a driver and convertible to ride in for the parade.
– You will receive signs with your name and sponsor information to display in the parade.

At all times you must act responsibly and in good taste while representing the city of Litchfield.
– No smoking or drinking alcohol is allowed.
– When you are not accompanied by a commodore, you may not wear your candidate sash.
– Candidates are expected to fully participate in the candidate process whether she has entered candidacy with the intention of being considered for a crown/title or has entered simply to have the experience with no intentions of being considered for a
crown/title.

Miss Litchfield is required to compete in the Minneapolis Aquatennial Queen of the Lakes competition in July, following the completion of her reign as Miss Litchfield.
– The Watercade Board pays the registration expenses.
– Any other optional expenses are the responsibility of Miss Litchfield and/or her parents.

– If for any reason an ambassador cannot complete her reign, all money and jewelry provided by the Watercade Board must be returned.
– Scholarships, Jewelry, Clothing, and Minneapolis Aquatennial Requirements may change at the discretion of the Board.

Commitment

Your reign as a Royal Ambassador lasts for one year. You will participate in up to 30 parades/events in surrounding communities. Over half of these events occur in June, July, or August. You will volunteer, on average, twice a month within our community. This may include visiting schools and nursing homes, Story Hour at the library, Santa House, bell ringing, and helping at the food shelf.

Each ambassador will receive a crown and a keepsake necklace. Bracelets will be gifted to Miss Congeniality and the winner of the Formal Gown Award at coronation.

Scholarship

 The Watercade Board awards each ambassador up to a $1,500 scholarship at the end of her reign. These are educational scholarships therefore each ambassador must be enrolled in a post-secondary school at the completion of her reign.

Sponsorship is a HUGE part of Litchfield’s Watercade Royalty Program; both the Senior Royalty (Miss Litchfield & Princesses) and Junior Princess programs.  This program relies almost entirely on donations and sponsorships just like yours.  What better way to represent and boast about our community than to be supported and sponsored by it while visiting other towns and festivals!? These donations will go directly towards Royalty Float updates/maintenance,  Royal Ball (banquet/dance for visiting royalty following our parade), Royalty Coronation, Royalty Scholarships, travel expenses to neighboring communities for their annual celebrations, crowns, sashes, jewelry, and wardrobe allowances.
