ABOUT
LITCHFIELD WATERCADE
Litchfield Watercade is a beloved tradition that has been bringing the community together since 1957. The festival was initially organized by Bob Everts, Arvid Reinke, Glen Doering, and LeRoy Lindquist to celebrate the summer and highlight the beauty of Lake Ripley. Originally held on July 4, the event was a simple yet joyous occasion with a focus on outdoor fun and local gatherings.
Over the years, Watercade has grown into a vibrant multi-day event, evolving to include a wide variety of activities and attractions. From its early days featuring picnics and a small parade to today’s exciting schedule of events, Watercade has become a cornerstone of Litchfield’s summer. Key moments in the celebration include the Watercade Royalty Coronation, the Sand Sculpture Contest, and much more.
The festival has also been a platform for community involvement, with local businesses and families coming together to create an unforgettable experience for all ages. Whether you’re enjoying a relaxing day by the lake or participating in competitive events, Watercade embodies the spirit of community, celebration, and tradition.
Join us this year to be a part of this long-standing tradition that continues to grow and create memories for generations to come. From its humble beginnings to today’s vibrant celebration, Litchfield Watercade remains a true reflection of the heart and soul of the Litchfield community.
